Kate Greenaway 2014 Monthly Calendar ~ Free Printable

“Isn't it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?”

Here is the last set of "Monthly Printables" that we are sharing from our Kate Greenaway Collection. These monthly calendar pages would be perfect to place inside your home management binder. I three-hole punched the sheets and inserted the current month under the "daily section" so that I can conveniently have it in view. The remainder months will be stored in the "monthly work" section until they are necessary.

If you have had a rough year full of pain and sorrow, know that with His help, your broken heart can heal. If you live with mounds of regrets, today is the day to be cleansed. You have the choice to become sparkling and fresh.

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:
old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
"And he died for all,
that those who live should no longer live for themselves
but for him who died for them and was raised again."
~ 2 Corinthians 5:15 (NIV)

I hope these printables and the new year will be a blessing to you and yours! If you have any problems accessing these monthly calendar pages, please let me know.

Simply "download" each month that you are interested in from the link below and "save" and "print" (see important printing instructions below).

Edited: Visit here for our current 2015 printable calendar.

Important Note: When you go to print the PDF file, make sure you find the area that says "size options" and then choose the "fit" option (or the calendar may get cut off on the bottom since it is a larger document).

"The Calendar" Cursive & Printing Practice Coloring Book ~ Free Printable

"Secure that the child begins by making perfect letters and is never allowed to make faulty ones, and the rest he will do for himself; as for 'a good hand,' do not hurry him; his 'handwriting' will come by-and-by out of the character that is in him…"
~ Charlotte Mason, Victorian Era Educator

Here is another set of "Monthly Printables" from our Kate Greenaway Collection that we are sharing this week. We have prepared some cursive and printing practice coloring books for your sweet scholars. It is in the basic format of "J is for January", etc. The bonus is the pages can be colored in as well.

In a Charlotte Mason education, the young student would be encouraged to copy one sentence perfectly for the day (which would increase somewhat as they mature). Short but quality lesson time is key.

We never purchased expensive curriculum when learning to print but copied out short Bible verses, little poems and anything else of that nature. These sheets are nice for the beginner. We posted a copywork booklet using "The Months" poem here that your older students would benefit from.

Today we are sharing two separate printable coloring books. One is for learning to print while the other is for practicing cursive. Simply download and/or print from our links. These booklets would also compliment our "Teaching the Calendar" Unit Study.

Monthly Shopping Lists ~ Free Printable

"The manner in which a housekeeper buys her groceries must depend upon where she lives and how large her family is. In a country place, where the stores are few and not well supplied, it is best to buy in large quantities all articles that will not deteriorate by keeping. If one has a large family a great saving is made by purchasing the greater portion of one's groceries at wholesale."

With increase costs of food and gas, I have been working on building up a plentiful pantry. Buying in bulk allows for lower prices and less grocery store runs. The second goal I have set is to do a once-a-month shopping day. My inspiration came from this book. With a year round garden, surplus of canned, dried and freezer goods, this goal is becoming more of a reality which really excites me!

With that being said, we are sharing our monthly shopping lists. If you are interested in doing something like this but don't know where to begin, you may want to print out our essential list for a stocked pantry and prepare from there. What is also fun about this printable is that you can color it in if you like! These drawings by Kate Greenaway are so peaceful.

We are placing our printable lists inside our home management binder. I three-hole punched the sheets and inserted the current month under the "daily section" so that I can conveniently add to it as needed. The rest will be stored in the "monthly work" section until I am ready for them. What will you do with yours? You will find the free printable HERE if you like.

About the Author {10 Random Facts} and a Happy New Year

Greetings, dear ladies!  It is rather hard for me to do an "about page" so here are 10 RANDOM FACTS instead. I am choosing to answer with some sentiments from favorite quotes and literature as well:

1.  I am in love with history!..

“If history were taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten.”
~ Rudyard Kipling

2.  Dark chocolate is my weakness and my strength :) Milk chocolate has no power over me...

“What you see before you, my friend, is the result of a lifetime of chocolate.”
~ Katharine Hepburn

3.  My dark hair reaches my waist and my Heavenly Hairdresser has begun weaving in some silver highlights...

"Long hair minimizes the need for barbers…"
~ Albert Einstein

"Gray hair is a crown of splendor…" (this keeps me going ;)
~ Proverbs 16:31 NIV

4.  I own over 1,000 books (purchased second-hand) and read several at a time because I dear reader, am a moody reader...

“I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading!
How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! --
When I have a house of my own,
I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.”
~ Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

5.  I drink my coffee with heavy cream and raw honey. I *love* my morning cup...

“I'd rather take coffee than compliments just now.”
~ Louisa May Alcott, Little Women

6.  I ball my head off when reading aloud to my family… (I'll never forget my husband's face when he saw me struggling for words with tears pouring down my cheeks while reading to my four year old. I couldn't even finish the sentence. "What's wrong?!" he asked. "Charlotte died!!!", I cried. You wouldn't believe his expression when he found out that she was just a spider…)

“She hoped to be wise and reasonable in time; but alas! Alas!"
~ Jane Austen, Persuasion

7.  I love and live (and will probably die) in a rugged denim skirt...

"To me, a lady is not frilly, flouncy, flippant, frivolous and fluff-brained, but she is gentle.
She is gracious, she is godly and she is giving...
You and I, if we are women, have the gift of femininity.
Very often it is obscured just as the image of God is obscured in all of us...
The more womanly we are, the more manly men will be, and the more God is glorified.
As I say to you women, 'Be women. Be only women. Be real women in obedience to God."
~ Elisabeth Elliot

8.  I am a very passionate person which can be good and it can also be bad...
I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature.”
    ~ Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey

“A quick temper, sharp tongue, and restless spirit were always getting her into scrapes,
and her life was a series of ups and downs, which were both comic and pathetic.”
~ Louisa May Alcott, Little Women
9.  My three favorite novels are Stepping Heavenward, Ishmael and Pride and Prejudice...

“That is a good book it seems to me, which is opened with expectation and closed with profit.”
~ Louisa May Alcott

10.  I love being a keeper at home (oops, I suppose you already know that!)...

“It's sad if people think that's (homemaking) a dull existance, [but] you can't just buy an apartment and furnish it and walk away. It's the flowers you choose, the music you play, the smile you have waiting. I want it to be gay and cheerful, a haven in this troubled world. I don't want my husband and children to come home and find a rattled woman. Our era is already rattled enough, isn't it?”
~ Audrey Hepburn

“Ah! There is nothing like staying at home, for real comfort.”
~ Jane Austen

What about you? Do you share any of my weird "randomness"?

Thank you to all the ladies who have been so gracious with kind comments this past year and I look forward to reading your inspiring blogs this upcoming one! It is nice to see what like-minded women are up to!

“Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think.
It's splendid to find out there are so many of them in the world.”

P.S. You may be interested in visiting here to find out the purpose of this blog and your creative calling!

Love, JES

I am an old-fashioned, Bible-believing, wife to my "one and only" for 18 years, homeschooling mother, who embraces her role as "keeper at home". We live on a 25-acre prairie farm. For fun… my three main earthly weaknesses (in no particular order) are coffee, dark chocolate and hardcover books. What about you? My hope is that this blog will inspire you in the arts of homemaking, homeschooling and homesteading. Have a lovely week!
