The "Art" of Home-Making Mondays ~ Inspiration #6

“We are to make a plan for the day, pray over that plan, and then proceed with that plan. When we are willing to regard the unexpected as God's intervention, we can flex with the new plan, recognizing it as God's plan.”

"A man’s heart plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps."
~ Proverbs 16:9

  1. The Elizabeth George quote is one I should keep in mind. I tend to plow forward like an unwavering Army general. I'm finally getting better about rolling with hiccups but there's still plenty of room for improvement! Especially when the unexpected phone call or God nudge turns into a blessing. Case in point...
Some years ago, my mom was living with us. I operated on a tight schedule to have time for both her doc appts. and my church activities. One early morning, I was about to get started on my cleaning and the idea of making a Pineapple Upside Down cake popped into my head. This was really odd! I hadn't made one in years. Started to ignore the thought but couldn't. I recalled how it was my mom's very favorite. Checked the pantry and I had everything so I made one. It finished just before she got up and I took her a warm piece with a hot cup of coffee and she just cooed with delight. Gave me a warm heart feeling to do something so simple for her. Well, she had a stroke just a week later and died not long after. I will forever be grateful I paid attention to God's nudge that morning. (Sorry I got so long winded)

  4. I am a control freak. There, I said it! LOL I really felt the quote from Elizabeth George. How that speaks to me. If I make my plan, which I love to do, and pray over it and then if something comes up, I can let myself roll with it and see what comes up, instead of trying to slam my way through. I can let God show me something different than what I had planned. Thanks for this!

  5. Once I heard that if you aim at nothing you are sure to hit it. I find that very true in my days. I try to set out goals for each day so that I have a plan of action. Yes, and like you quoted to see the unexpected as God's intervention. Praying you have a blessed day!

  6. This is what our ladies prayer group prayed about today! That we would pray about all we do, and ask the Lord to lead us and guide us so that we are about His business, and not just ours. A confirmation indeed to read this quote on your lovely blog today. Many blessings to you dear friend :)
