The Birthday by George Harcourt

“It is supposed by some that religion makes people solemn, takes the sunshine out of their life, the joy out of their heart, the song out of their mouth. But the reverse of this is the truth. No other one in the world has such secrets of joy as has the Christian. Christ teaches his followers to rejoice. He bids them rejoice even in sorrow and trial.”
"Serve the Lord with gladness…"

This is the second thing I've read similar to this today. I guess it's time to get over it and by joyful! Thanks for the second kick in the pants!
ReplyDeleteI post these things for myself as well~ We all need reminders! :) Have a wonderful week Rebecca!
DeleteI once heard a preacher say how on all these films that portray the life/passion of Jesus always make Him seem solemn, grave, and almost never show Him to smile. While certainly Jesus was often solemn and grave, and even though He was PERFECT, He also had PERFECT JOY! That blew me away because you NEVER think of Jesus smiling-- but He does! What you posted about the Christian's life made me remember that
ReplyDeleteGreat point~ That is probably what brought the children to Him! Thank you for sharing that!
DeleteI never thought of that either... Jesus would totally of been a friendly guy.
DeleteWhat a self evaluating post. Thanks for sharing. Stopping by from Teach Me Tuesday.
