Great and Noble Tasks ~ Snippets

“I long to accomplish great and noble tasks, but it is my chief duty to accomplish humble tasks as though they were great and noble. The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of the tiny pushes of each honest worker."

~ Helen Keller

Dear reader, this delicately describes the gentle life of a homemaker. Through daily rituals of love and care, we are sending people into the world who are well-adjusted, who will shine a light in dark places, who will be peculiarly holy because you took the time to make this example in the home. You took the time to show what beautiful is, what noble is, what truth is.

Just as a “little leaven leavens the whole lump” in a negative way (Galatians 5:9), imagine what a “lot of love” can leaven in a positive way. Please don’t underestimate your sacred influence.

“If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.”
~ Mother Teresa

You are not “just” making a home but maintaining a ministry.

  2. Thank you, JES. All that you wrote in this post was so meaningful. I hope you don't mind that I copied it word for word into my "commonplace book" of quotes, poems, scriptures, sayings, etc. that speak to me. Of course I added your blog address to the entry. Your posts are a breath of fresh air, encouraging to the soul.

  3. I believe Helen Keller had more than a few negative things to say about the Bible, and Humanists love to quote her. However I'm always amazed at her level of intellect and understanding and how it was possible to do for someone who is deaf and blind and could only gauge the world one Braille letter at a time.

God sends to us, others who encourage us. I appreciate your talents and gifts that you share with us.

"And let us consider how we may spur one another with love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

  10. I have been a full-time homemaker for over 32 years now---ever since I had my first child. Spending my days concentrating on making my home a haven of rest and beauty for my family has been the greatest joy of my life. And even now, as an empty nester, I am happily focusing on my home.

  11. Hi, JES!
    Those apple turnovers look delicious!
Our home is the most important place we can be here on earth and the way we make it, is the way others will perceive it. So, we have to make it full of love, peace and above all the Grace of God!
Have a blessed week and I hope everything is okay!
    :)
