Make Your Own Orange Bath Powders ~ Citrus Series

Here is another citrus project featuring the orange or tangerine peel that you can do while they are in season (and therefore affordable or free) ~ I love products created from simple pantry ingredients and this bath powder can be made in minutes. Who says that being a keeper at home is dull? It's a lot of fun to create concoctions in the kitchen!

List of Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup of dried orange or tangerine peel (drying directions are found here)

Oatmeal is very soothing and softening to the skin while the baking soda neutralizes pH levels and draws out toxins from the body. Orange and tangerine peels are known to help reduce wrinkles, scars, stretch-marks and acne while being pleasantly aromatic.

To make, grind up ingredients in a blender until mixture is nice and powdery. Pour inside a clean jar or container with lid. You will find free printable labels for this project here.

Optional: Mix in a few drops of orange essential oil or citrus bliss (my new favorite) to your final product.

To use, place 1/2 cup of bath powder directly into your warm tub or scoop inside a bath sachet and soak your stress away. You will find more bath and body recipes here. We are also sharing our printable recipe in case you would like to add it to your herbal. Simply download and print from this link HERE.

If you enjoyed this project, we share 100+ more ideas on how to use up fruit scraps in our Ebook here! Happy kitchen-crafting, ladies!

  1. Jes,
This sounds heavenly. I have never used oatmeal in a bath salt due to the texture. I never thought of using a blender (duh.) I can't wait to try this. You have inspired me with the orange peels so have been eating some wonderful tangelos & saving the peels.
(Have been trying to eat more locally. The tangelos are from a neighboring state instead of across the nation or globe so I don't feel too bad about it:)
Thank you for sharing your wealt of knowledge.

  4. Thanks Jess. This looks easy enough to manage. I only shower these days but I am tempted.
Lady Locust mentioned Tangelos, I have not come across these (Google here I come)
Across the pond all our citrus fruit is imported, but I do agree with her and try to use local produce from our Farmers Markets. One meets such pleasant people that way.

I found your blog from "Teach Me Tuesdays" hosting by Growing Home Blog. I love your idea of making orange bath powers. Is it possible that I can give the baby a bath? Is it safe? Let me know soon!
