We bought the jewel tone set, but pastel was available as well. These silks became capes, teepees, dresses, table cloths, dolly blanket, etc...whatever creative thought came to mind. They were expensive, but worth it. We tried to do more “heirloom” type gifts or something to encourage learning or industry such as “potholder weaving kits”, nice hardcover books with handwritten message, nice paints and an artist quality paper set (Michael’s has all sorts of fun things!) historical costume/book sets such as pioneer books with bonnet, mini tea sets with a Christian themed tea party book for young ladies or since you are giving an apron, how about an inspirational cookbook? Also, a gift of an experience is worth so much. You can give her a memory of going somewhere together as a family… When our daughter was four, she loved horses (still does) so we got her a pink cowboy hat and went horseback-riding with a picnic.

Hope this helps!

P.S. What kind of gifts would you recommend for a 4 yo girl? My 3rd child will be turning 4 in Nov. and we are just stumped at what to get her. We will be getting her an apron, a skirt, and would like to get her a toy of some sorts. But generally toys at walmart or target don't suffice since they either break easily or are just plain inappropriate for a little girl. She already has a few dolls and a play kitchen with accessories. Katie @SimpleFoodyhttp://www.simplefoody.orgnoreply@blogger.com
